Inside of each of us, there is a place where no one else is meant to see; a Dark Room where we try to hide the most subtle and sensitive aspects of ourselves.

We believe this room is where the most potent parts of the human experience are locked away, kept secret and protected from exposure under psychic lock and key. We want to expose those secrets by granting readers access to that Dark Room.

Dark Room Press is a place for writers to find support in the publishing journey. We are a small team of likeminded creatives who are passionate about getting incredible books read by as many people as possible.

Where breaking down the doors to Traditional Publishing feels impossible, Dark Room Press will always keep the door open for the right writer.

Submissions

Writing is a craft. Storytelling is a tradition. Only those who can do both in equal parts will stand out to us. We feel that writers who don't take risks with language are just storytellers, and there is plenty of room for good storytelling in the mass genre market.

However, clever wordplay is only as interesting as it is substantive. The heart of the story must beat in time with each word. We're looking for stories that pry open that dark room and give us a raw and honest look inside.

We don't care about tropes, trends, or topics - we care that it matters to the writer and that it is executed artfully, with respect for the craft.

This is not a safe space for bigots or fascists.
